[Sort Rules](https://help.proquickdraw.com/helpcenter/cutup-generator-web-version?hsLang=en#sort-rules) August 24, 2026 # Sort Rules Overview ## A sort rule decides what order the film plays in — and, if you want, a lot more: it can split a playlist into sub-folders, or stamp count-and-percentage bands right into the grid so the tendencies read themselves. One rule, built once, reused everywhere. ### One Rule, Three Jobs A sort rule is an ordered list of columns. Depending on each column's checkboxes, the rule can do any mix of three jobs: - **Order** every play in the playlist (no checkboxes needed). - **Split** the playlist into sub-folders, one level per **Folder** column. - Add **count/percentage bands** in the grid, one band per group, via the **Count** and **Pct** checkboxes. Sort rules live on the column set — the **Sort Rules** tab of the Column Set editor — and attach to folder rules by name.
